On giving a direction for erasure or for suspension1 in respect of any person, the practice committee2 giving the direction, if satisfied that to do so is necessary for the protection of the public or is otherwise in the public interest, or is in the interests of that person, may order that his registration is suspended forthwith in accordance with these provisions3.
