776. Medical assessors.

The General Council1 may appoint registered medical practitioners2 to be medical assessors3. Medical assessors have the general function of giving advice to:

  1.  

    (1)     any person appointed4 to give preliminary consideration to allegations made against a registered osteopath5 in respect of his professional conduct or fitness to practise6;

  2.  

    (2)     the investigating committee7;

  3.  

    (3)     the professional conduct committee8;

  4.  

    (4)     the health committee9; or

  5.  

    (5)     the registrar10,

on matters within their professional competence arising in connection with any matter which he or, as the case may be, the committee is considering11. Medical assessors also have such other functions as may be conferred on
