The General Council1 must appoint persons to be legal assessors2. They have the general function of giving advice to:
(1) any person appointed3 to give preliminary consideration to allegations made against a registered osteopath4 in respect of his professional conduct or fitness to practise5;
(2) the investigating committee6;
(3) the professional conduct committee7;
(4) the health committee8; or
(5) the registrar9,
on questions of law arising in connection with any matter which he or, as the case may be, the committee is considering10. Legal assessors also have such other functions as may be conferred
