Where the fitness to practise committee1 is satisfied that it is necessary for the protection of members of the public or is otherwise in the public interest or is in the interests of the registrant for an entry in the register2 relating to a registrant to be suspended or to be made subject to conditions, the committee may make an order3:
(1) that the entry in question be suspended for such period not exceeding 18 months as may be specified in the order4; or
(2) that the entry in question be conditional upon the registrant complying, during such period
