Except in relation to the use of gametes1 in the course of providing basic partner treatment services2, provisions relating to consent3 must be complied with4. Before a person gives consent under those provisions he must be given a suitable opportunity to receive proper counselling about the implications of taking the proposed steps and he must be provided with such relevant information as is proper5. He must also be informed of the effect of provisions6 relating to the variation and withdrawal of consent7.
