A person is an eligible specialist for the purposes of the entry of his name in a specialist list1 if he holds a recognised specialist dental qualification2. A person is also an eligible specialist3 if he does not fall within the previous category, but: (1) he has specialist dental qualifications awarded outside the United Kingdom4 in orthodontics or, as the case may be, oral surgery, and satisfies the General Dental Council5 that those qualifications are equivalent to a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training6 in the specialty in question7; or (2) he has knowledge of, and experience in, orthodontics
