876. Duties of the Council.

The over-arching objective of the General Pharmaceutical Council in exercising its functions is the protection of the public¹.

In exercising its functions, the Council (including its staff and committees) must:

   (1)     have proper regard to:

      (a)     the interests of persons using or needing the services of registrants² in Great Britain³;

   2.  

      (b)     the interests of all registrants and prospective registrants, and any differing interests of registered pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians or groups within those professions⁴; and

   3.  

      (c)     the interests of persons carrying on a retail pharmacy business at a registered pharmacy⁵; and

   (2)     co-operate⁶, in so far as is appropriate
