The over-arching objective of the General Pharmaceutical Council in exercising its functions is the protection of the public1.
In exercising its functions, the Council (including its staff and committees) must:
(1) have proper regard to:
(a) the interests of persons using or needing the services of registrants2 in Great Britain3;
(b) the interests of all registrants and prospective registrants, and any differing interests of registered pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians or groups within those professions4; and
(c) the interests of persons carrying on a retail pharmacy business at a registered pharmacy5; and
(2) co-operate6, in so far as is appropriate
