A legal assessor1 must be selected by the chairman2 for any hearing from the list of those appointed by the Council3 to assist the professional conduct committee4. Where the osteopath5 does not appear and is not represented6, the committee may nevertheless proceed with the hearing, make a finding and, if appropriate, apply sanctions, provided the solicitor7 satisfies the committee that all reasonable steps have been taken to serve the notice of the hearing on the osteopath concerned8.
