585. Appointment of screeners.

The Health and Care Professions Council¹ may appoint persons to be screeners². Screeners must be appointed from among persons who are not and never have been members of a health or social care profession which is regulated under any enactment (known as 'lay screeners')³, and from among registrants (known as 'registrant screeners')⁴. Such persons must have such qualifications, interests and experience as, in the opinion of the Council, will enable them to perform the functions of screeners
