635. Appointment of legal advisers.

The General Optical Council¹ must appoint persons to be legal advisers². The legal advisers are appointed for the purpose of giving advice to the fitness to practise committee and the registration appeals committee³, on questions of law arising in connection with any matter which the committee is considering⁴. Legal advisers appointed under these provisions may be appointed either generally or for any particular class of proceedings, and must hold and vacate office in accordance with the terms of the instrument under which they are appointed⁵.
