An exempt person1 applying to have his name entered in the list for the specialty of orthodontics or oral surgery must produce or send to the General Dental Council2 a relevant certificate3 if: (1) he is applying to be considered as an eligible specialist4; (2) he holds a qualification listed in the European Parliament and Council Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications5; and (3) he has successfully completed specialist dental training that meets6, or, is to be treated as meeting7, the specialist dental training requirements8.
