Where an allegation is made to the General Dental Council1 against a registered dentist, or a registered dental care professional,2 as appropriate, that his fitness to practise in that role is impaired3, the registrar4 must refer the allegation to the investigating committee5, and may, at any time before the investigating committee have begun to consider the allegation, refer the allegation to the interim orders committee if he considers it appropriate6.
