521. Action upon referral of an allegation.

Upon referral of an allegation¹ to the Fitness to Practise committee², that committee must notify the registrant of the allegation by serving a notice of referral upon her³. In the case of an allegation of lack of competence, the fitness to practise committee may invite the registrant to submit to assessment⁴, and in the case of an allegation that the practitioner's fitness to practise is impaired by reason of physical or mental health, the fitness to practise committee may invite the registrant to submit to medical examination by a registered medical practitioner⁵ nominated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council⁶.
