As from a day to be appointed, the following provisions have effect1.
It is a term of every secure tenancy2 of a dwelling house3 in England4 (other than an old-style secure tenancy5) that the tenant6 may terminate the tenancy7 in accordance with heads (1) to (4) below8:
(1) the tenant must serve a notice in writing on the landlord stating that the tenancy will be terminated on the date specified in the notice9;
(2) that date must be after the end of the period of four weeks beginning with the date on which the notice is served
