If a tenancy deposit1 has been paid in connection with a shorthold tenancy2 on or after 6 April 20073, no notice requiring possession of the dwelling house ('section 21 notice', which allows for a mandatory possession claim)4 may be given in relation to the tenancy at a time when the initial requirements of an authorised scheme5 have not been complied with6 by the landlord7 in relation to the deposit8.
