1256. Reservation of right of pre-emption.

Where a tenant1 of a house2 and premises3 acquires an extended lease4, and the landlord5 is:

  1.  

    (1)     the new towns residuary body6;

  2.  

    (2)     a development corporation7; or

  3.  

    (3)     the council of any former overspill area8,

there must, if so required by the landlord, be included in the instrument extending the lease9 the following covenants on the part of the tenant, that is to say:

  1.  

    (a)     a covenant that no tenancy10 of the property comprised in the instrument creating the lease or any part of that property shall be granted except with the consent in writing of the landlord; and
