53. Protected characteristics and application of equality provisions in relation to premises.

The following characteristics are 'protected characteristics' for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010:

    (4)     marriage and civil partnership4;

  5.  

    (5)     pregnancy and maternity5;

  6.  

    (6)     race6;

  7.  

    (7)     religion or belief7;

  8.  

    (8)     sex8; and

  9.  

    (9)     sexual orientation9.

Part 4 of the Equality Act 2010, which prohibits discrimination, harassment and victimisation in relation to the disposal, management and occupation of premises10, does not, however, apply to the protected characteristics of age, or of marriage and civil partnership11.
