If any of the other landlords1 cannot be found, or his identity cannot be ascertained, the reversioner2 must apply to the court for directions; and the court may make such order in the matter as it thinks proper with a view to giving effect to the rights of the claimant3 and protecting the interests of other persons4. Subject to the court's directions, however, the following provisions apply:
(1) the reversioner must proceed as in other cases;
