For the purposes of the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995, 1an application for the release of a covenant2 to any extent is made by serving on the tenant3, either before or within the period of four weeks beginning with the date of the assignment in question, a notice4 informing him of:
(1) the proposed assignment (or, as the case may be, the fact that the assignment has taken place)5; and
(2) the request for the covenant to be released to that extent6.
