958. Nature of replacement tenancies.

The new tenancy1 is to be:


    (1)     an assured shorthold tenancy2 if the original tenancy was an assured shorthold tenancy3;


    (2)     an assured tenancy4 which is not an assured shorthold tenancy if the original tenancy was a tenancy of that kind5;


    (3)     a demoted tenancy to which the Housing Act 1988 applies6 if the original tenancy was a demoted tenancy of that kind7.

The new tenancy is, subject as follows, to have effect on the same terms and conditions as those applicable to the original tenancy8 immediately before it ended9. The terms and conditions of the new tenancy are to
