No claim may be brought to recover arrears of rent1 or damages in respect of them after the expiration of six years from the date on which the arrears became due, or on which a written acknowledgment was made2. The right to recover six years' arrears subsists so long as the relationship of landlord and tenant continues, notwithstanding the non-payment of rent for any number of years
