The proper forum in which to apply for an order for possession of a dwelling house is generally the County Court1. The court may not, save in certain specified cases2, postpone the giving up of possession to a date later than 14 days after the making of the order, unless it appears to the court that exceptional hardship would be caused by requiring possession to be given up by that date; and in any event the court may not postpone possession to a date later than six weeks after the making of the order3.
