A secure tenancy1 which is a periodic tenancy2, or which is a tenancy for a term certain3 granted on or after 5 November 1982, is not capable of being assigned4, except where the assignment is:
(1) by way of exchange5 in accordance with the Housing Act 19856; or
(2) in pursuance of a property adjustment order7 made in connection with matrimonial proceedings, a property adjustment order8 after an overseas divorce, etc, an order for financial relief against a parent9, or a property adjustment order10 in connection with civil partnership proceedings or after overseas dissolution of a civil partnership
