236.     Submission to jurisdiction.

A state1 is not immune from proceedings in respect of which it has submitted2 to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom courts3. A state may submit after the dispute giving rise to the proceedings has arisen or by a prior written agreement4.

A state is deemed to have submitted if:

  1.  

    (1)     it has instituted the proceedings5; or

  2.  

    (2)     it has intervened or taken any step in the proceedings6.

However, head (2) above does not apply to:
