294. Privileges and immunities afforded to European institutions.

The European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC) enjoy in the territories of the member states such privileges and immunities as are necessary for the performance of their tasks, subject to conditions1. These privileges extend also to the European Investment Bank and the European Central Bank2.

The premises and buildings of the EU are inviolable. They are exempt from search, requisition, confiscation and expropriation.
