Support may be provided to asylum seekers1 or their dependants2:
(1) by providing accommodation appearing to the Secretary of State3 to be adequate for the needs of the supported person4 and his dependants, if any5;
(2) until a day to be appointed6, by providing what appear to the Secretary of State to be essential living needs7 of the supported person and his dependants, if any; and as from that day, by providing the supported person and his dependants (if any) with food and other essential items8;
(3) to enable the supported person, if he is the asylum seeker, to
