Provision is made1 for the implementation in the United Kingdom2 of the Temporary Protection Directive3, which was issued in 2001 for the purpose of enabling member states to give temporary protection to displaced persons in the event of a mass influx of such persons into the EU. An applicant for temporary protection will be granted temporary protection if the Secretary of State is satisfied that:
(1) the applicant is in the United Kingdom or has arrived at a port of entry in the United Kingdom4;
