112. Suitability requirements for entry clearance.

An applicant will be refused entry clearance1 on grounds of 'suitability' if any of the following apply2:

  1.  

    (1)     the Secretary of State3 has personally directed that the exclusion of the applicant from the United Kingdom4 is conducive to the public good5;

  2.  

    (2)     the applicant is currently the subject of a deportation order6;

  3.  

    (3)     the exclusion of the applicant from the United Kingdom is conducive to the public good because:

    1.  

      (a)     they have been convicted of an offence for which they have been sentenced to a period of imprisonment7; or

    2.  

      (b)     for example, the applicant's conduct, character, associations or other
