The holder of a biometric immigration document1 must provide his document to an immigration officer or the Secretary of State2, as applicable:
(1) where he is examined by an immigration officer3 or the Secretary of State4;
(2) where he makes an application for entry clearance, leave to enter or leave to remain5 or applies as a dependant of a person who makes such an application6;
(3) where he makes an application to be recognised as a refugee, as a person in need of humanitarian protection7, or as a stateless
