As from a day to be appointed1 the Secretary of State2 may arrange for the provision of accommodation for a person in an accommodation centre if that person is an asylum seeker or the dependant of an asylum seeker and the Secretary of State thinks he is destitute or is likely to become so3. A 'residence condition' under the Immigration Act 20164 may include a requirement to reside at an accommodation centre5, and a person may also be provisionally accommodated in an accommodation centre pending a decision on eligibility
