466.     Powers of local authorities to make travel arrangements and provide accommodation.

A local authority may make arrangements (ie 'travel arrangements'1) enabling a person with refugee status abroad2 or who is an EEA national3 to leave the United Kingdom to travel to the relevant EEA State4. Where a person has with him a dependent child and either:

  1.  

    (1)     travel arrangements have been or are to be made in respect of him5; or

  2.  

    (2)     he is unlawfully in the United Kingdom6 and has not failed to co-operate with removal directions issued in respect of him7,
