Subject to exceptions1, an applicant for indefinite leave to enter or remain2 has and demonstrates sufficient knowledge of the English language if the following requirements are met3:
(1) the applicant has provided specified documentary evidence4 that he is a national or citizen of a majority English language speaking country5 or has obtained an academic qualification6 which is deemed7 to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor's or Master's degree or PhD in the United Kingdom8;
