The fast track rules1 have been found to be ultra vires2 but, at the date at which this volume states the law, remain in force.
The fast track rules apply to appeals to the First-tier Tribunal3 where the appellant is in detention under the Immigration Acts at certain specified locations4. The fast track procedure differs from the usual procedure for appeals5 in that there are shorter time limits for the parties and the Tribunal to take certain steps6, and certain procedures are simplified or modified to reflect the shorter timetable7.
