Each housing authority1 must secure that, so far as practicable, a tenancy2 of, or licence to occupy, housing accommodation3 is not granted to a person subject to immigration control4 unless he is an asylum seeker5 or otherwise of a class specified in an order made by the Secretary of State6 or the tenancy of, or licence to occupy, the accommodation is granted in accordance with arrangements made under the provisions7 relating to support for asylum seekers8. It is also provided that a person is not eligible for assistance9
