488. Disclosure of information in relation to persons suspected of committing offences.

The Secretary of State1 may:

  1.  

    (1)     require an employer2 to supply information about an employee whom the Secretary of State reasonably suspects of having committed an offence involving the making of false or dishonest representations3 relating to the obtaining of asylum support4 if such information is required for the purpose of establishing where the employee is5 or relates to the employee's earnings or to the history of his employment6; and

  2.  

    (2)     require a financial institution7 to supply information about a person if the Secretary of State reasonably suspects that the person has committed such an offence8, the information is
