Until 2005, an immigration decision could be challenged by way of appeal to an adjudicator with the right of subsequent appeal to the Immigration Appeal Tribunal1. This two-tier system was then replaced by the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, which comprised a single tier tribunal with power to reconsider its own decisions2.
