311.     Treaty provisions under which health and safety legislation is made.

The common activities of the European Union (EU) are stated in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union1 to include measures to ensure co-ordination between employment policies of the member states2 and a contribution to the attainment of protection of human health3. In its activities generally the EU must aim to eliminate inequalities, and to promote equality, between men and women4.
