318. The European Commission and the Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work.

The European Commission1 has a number of general functions affecting, inter alia, health and safety legislation2. The European Parliament, the Council of the European Union ('EU') and the European Commission must consult each other and by common agreement make arrangements for their cooperation3; and the Commission must publish annually, not later than one month before the opening of the session of the European Parliament, a general report on the activities of the EU4. With respect to, inter alia, health and safety matters, the Commission must also draw up a report each year on progress in achieving the specified objectives5,
