Only one supervisor1 may be appointed to supervise2 a diving operation3 at any one time4; and no person may be appointed, or may act, as a supervisor unless he is competent and, where appropriate, suitably qualified to perform the functions of supervisor in respect of the diving operation which he is appointed to supervise5.
The supervisor must, in respect of the diving operation for which he has been appointed as supervisor, ensure that it is carried out, so far as is reasonably practicable6:
