In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council1 issued2 a sentencing guideline entitled 'Corporate Manslaughter and Health and Safety Offences Causing Death: Definitive Guideline' which was applicable from 15 February 2010. This has now been replaced by a guideline issued by the Sentencing Council: Sentencing Council Definitive Guideline Health and Safety Offences, Corporate Manslaughter and Food Safety and Hygiene Offences published on 3 November 2015, which is applicable to all organisations and offenders aged 18 and over who are sentenced on or after 1 February 2016, regardless of the date of the offence3. Separate online guidelines are available for corporate manslaughter and for health and safety offences (even where death is caused), and it is stressed on the Sentencing Council's website that only the online version of
