The mine operator1 must ensure that: (1) there is a suitable ventilation system below ground at the mine2; (2) the ventilation system is subject to suitable monitoring; and (3) the ventilation system is recorded accurately on the ventilation plan3. The ventilation must be continuous and sufficient to ensure that, so far as is reasonably practicable: (a) in the general body of air below ground at the mine, the amount of oxygen is not less than 19% by volume; and (b) the temperature and humidity below ground at the mine are reasonable, having regard to the working methods being used4.
