308. Legislation relating to remuneration and employment.

Minimum remuneration is prescribed by orders made under the National Minimum Wage Act 19981. Working time and holiday entitlement are regulated under the Working Time Regulations 19982.

The employment of children in any industrial undertaking or in a mine or quarry is prohibited3. Other protective measures relating to the employment of children and of pregnant women or women of child-bearing age are discussed in a later part of this title4.

Recruitment for employment may be effected through employment services, and provision has been made for the establishment of public authorities to assist persons to obtain employment and to provide training for
