Provision has been made prohibiting the carrying out of types or classes of practice involving exposure to ionising radiation unless they have been justified by the Secretary of State or the Welsh Ministers (the 'justifying authority')1.
A person may carry out a practice, resulting in exposure to ionising radiation, belonging to an existing class or type of practice2, unless it has been determined in the most recent applicable justification decision that that class or type of practice that is not justified, and the date for ceasing to carry out the practice3, has passed4.
