808. Introduction to quarries; meaning of 'quarry'.

The Quarries Regulations 19991 govern health and safety in quarries. For the purposes of those regulations, 'quarry' means:

  1.  

    (1)     subject to certain exceptions2, an excavation3 or system of excavations made for the purpose of, or in connection with, the extraction of minerals4, whether in their natural state or in solution or suspension, or products of minerals, being neither a mine5 nor merely a well or borehole or a well and borehole combined;

  2.  

    (2)     any reclamation site6 from which minerals are being extracted for sale or further use; or

  3.  

    (3)     any disused tip7 which is not at a mine being
