In general, the legislative provisions relating to personal protective equipment1 must be enforced by the market surveillance authority2. Where personal protective equipment ('PPE')3 is designed: (1) for use or operation, whether exclusively or not, by persons at work; or (2) for use, otherwise than at work, in non-domestic premises made available to persons at a place where they may use the PPE provided for their own use there, in Great Britain4, the market surveillance authority is the Health and Safety Executive5.
