387.     Duties of employers and the self-employed to persons other than their employees.

Every employer and every self-employed person1 must conduct his undertaking in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable2, that persons not in his employment who may be affected thereby are not exposed to risks3 to their health and safety4. A self-employed person who conducts an undertaking of a prescribed description owes the same duty to himself5.
