639.     Designated areas in regard to ionising radiation.

Every employer1 must designate as a controlled area any area under its control which has been identified by an assessment made by that employer2 as an area in which:

(1)     it is necessary for any person who enters or works in the area3 to follow special procedures designed to restrict significant exposure to ionising radiation4 in that area or prevent or limit the probability and magnitude of radiation accidents5 or their effects6; or 

(2)     any person working in the area is likely to receive an effective dose7 greater than 6 mSv a year or an equivalent dose 8greater than 15 mSv a year for the lens of the eye or greater than 150 mSv a year for the skin or the
