The provision and use of work equipment generally is regulated by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 19981, which came into force on 5 December 19982. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 apply both in and, in certain circumstances, outside3 Great Britain4.
The requirements imposed by those regulations on an employer5 in respect of work equipment6 apply to such equipment provided for use7 or used by an employee of his at work8; and the requirements so imposed on an employer also apply:
(1) to a relevant self-employed person9, in respect of work equipment he uses
