Pre-completion searches, made generally about seven days before contractual completion date, by the buyer's solicitor on behalf of his client or clients (that is, the buyer and the lender) are made principally to confirm that information obtained about the property prior to exchange remains correct. The searches must be done in sufficient time to ensure that the results are received by the buyer's solicitor in time for completion to take place on the contractual completion date. Any necessary actions must be performed during the priority periods given by the searches1.
