336. Old tenancies: liability between head-landlord and sub-tenant.

No privity of estate exists between a head-landlord and a sub-tenant although a contractual relationship will exist between them if the sub-tenant has entered into direct covenants with the head-landlord (for example in a licence to sub-let). The sub-tenant will in any event be directly liable to the head-landlord on restrictive covenants in the head-lease of which the former had notice when he took his sub-lease
